Organizer Chokri Mahassine?of Pukkelpop calls on?all party flockers of 2014 to install the free app ‘I am OK’. This app allows you to inform?your family, friends or loved ones and let them know you’re OK if?you get into an incident or even a disaster. The app was launched three years ago, after the Pukkelpop disasterous strom, and developed by Belgacom.
The festival organizers announced a series of additional security measures after the Pukkelpop 2014 Club tent collapsed during a brief but violent thunderstorm. There will be additional anchors at the tents, a permanent weather service and additional inspections. The organization will be watching the weather situation closely and will inform festivalgoers in?all ways: Twitter, Facebook, marquees, Pukkelpop app, …. On the large video walls on the festival grounds a movie will be shown with safety instructions.
The organization warned the three largest telecom operators to?increase the capacity of the mobile telecom transmission towers. Because thousands of people could just press one button during an incident, and?send messages to preset phone numbers and addresses. The?message can be forwarded?to Facebook and Twitter and it mentions also the GPS coordinates of the user. ‘I am OK’ is available on Android?and the iTunes App Store.
